Comparison

The best email verification tools in 2026, compared

Every tool on this list will catch a dead address. What separates them is what you pay, what they charge you for, and how well they fit the way you work. We compared ten popular verifiers on price, billing rules, APIs, catch-all handling and integrations, and ranked them.

Disclosure: BounceHound publishes this guide and ranks itself first. Competitor figures come from each vendor's public pricing and documentation pages, listed under Sources.

How we compared the tools

We looked at each tool on the same six things:

  • Price: what 5,000, 10,000 and 100,000 checks cost on each vendor's public pricing page.
  • Free tier: how many checks you can run before paying.
  • Billing rules: whether credits expire and whether unknown, duplicate and catch-all results are charged.
  • API and bulk: real-time checks, batch limits and how easy the API is to work with.
  • Catch-all handling: how each tool reports domains that accept every address.
  • Integrations and extras: including support for AI assistants through MCP.

We didn't run a head-to-head accuracy test for this guide. Accuracy depends heavily on your own list, so we've included a simple way to test it yourself. Prices are the standard self-serve prices in USD as of October 2026, before taxes or promotions.

BounceHound

Top pick

Best for AI agents, developers and pay-as-you-go teams

BounceHound is built for the way people work in 2026: inside AI assistants. Its remote MCP server connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and n8n with one line of config, so you can ask your assistant to “clean this list before I import it” and it does the verifying for you.

It's also the cheapest way on this list to verify 10,000 addresses, at $29. Packs never expire, there's no subscription, and the price drops below $1 per 1,000 on the largest packs. Addresses that fail free local checks (bad syntax, no mail server, known disposable domains) and results that come back unknown are never charged.

Every result includes one of five plain statuses (valid, invalid, risky, disposable, unknown), a reason, role and free-provider flags, and a “did you mean” fix for typos like gmial.com.

  • 250 free credits at sign-up, no card required
  • Packs: 10,000 for $29 up to 1,000,000 for $999 (+10% bonus); credits never expire
  • Unknown results, syntax errors, no-MX domains and known disposables are free
  • Duplicates in a bulk request are verified and charged once
  • REST API: single, GET and bulk endpoints with JSON errors (400, 401, 402, 413)
  • MCP tools: verify_email, verify_emails, clean_email_list, suggest_email_fix, get_credit_balance
2

MillionVerifier

Best for very large lists at the lowest volume price

MillionVerifier is built for volume. At 100,000 checks it's the cheapest tool here, and its billing is generous: only good and bad results are charged, so unknown and catch-all addresses cost nothing.

It keeps things lean. You get a single-address API, a CSV bulk API and integrations that re-clean lists inside your email platform, but few extras beyond that.

  • No pack below 10,000; credits never expire
  • Unknown and catch-all results are free
  • Refund of the last payment promised if verified lists bounce above 4%
3

ZeroBounce

Best for an all-in-one deliverability toolkit

ZeroBounce is one of the most established names in the category and has the broadest feature set: activity data, AI lead scoring, an email finder and deliverability tools sit alongside verification.

That breadth is reflected in the price. It's the most expensive credit-based option here at 10,000 and 100,000 checks, so it makes the most sense if you'll use the extras.

  • Free tier of 100 validations a month with a business-domain sign-up
  • Unknown results and duplicate removal are free
  • AI scoring costs an extra credit per address
  • Uploaded files are deleted after 30 days
4

Kickbox

Best for developers who want a quality score, not just a status

Kickbox is a long-time favorite of developers. Its Sendex score rates each address from 0 to 1, which helps when you want more nuance than deliverable or not.

Small packs make it easy to start, and its batch API handles very large jobs in a single request.

  • Packs from 500 checks for $5
  • Unknown results are refunded
  • Batch API accepts up to 1 million addresses per request
5

Emailable

Best for fast, simple bulk cleaning

Emailable is easy to pick up: upload a list, get results quickly, and download them. A clean API and the common marketing integrations cover most needs.

Pay-as-you-go credits never expire, and a subscription brings the price down if you verify every month.

  • Paid credits never expire
  • Unknown results and duplicates refunded when a list finishes
  • Batch endpoint takes up to 50,000 addresses
6

Bouncer

Best for EU-hosted verification

Bouncer is based in Poland and hosted in the EU, which makes it a natural pick for teams with strict data-residency requirements.

Pricing is competitive, credits never expire, and you can start with as few as 1,000 checks.

  • Duplicates and unknown results are free
  • Catch-all domains come back as risky
  • Sells a signup-form widget and a deliverability kit
7

NeverBounce

Best for native integrations with marketing platforms

NeverBounce, part of ZoomInfo, has one of the widest sets of native integrations, so lists can be cleaned and synced inside the tools you already use.

Its per-check price is reasonable, but credits expire 12 months after purchase, which matters if you verify only occasionally.

  • Credits expire 12 months after purchase
  • Growth plan: $49 a month for up to 10,000
  • 80+ integrations
8

Clearout

Best for verification plus email finding and form protection

Clearout bundles verification with an email finder and a form guard, which suits growth and sales teams that want one tool for all three.

New accounts now start on a subscription, and API rate limits are tied to your plan, so check those limits if you plan to verify in real time at scale.

  • Credits never expire
  • API limits of 25–55 requests a minute on smaller plans
  • Deep Verify aims to resolve catch-all addresses
9

Verifalia

Best for A daily free allowance and SDKs in many languages

Verifalia offers a free allowance every day and official SDKs for .NET, Go, Java, JavaScript, PHP and Ruby.

You can choose how thorough each check is, but deeper checks cost two or four credits instead of one.

  • Credit packs never expire
  • Standard, High and Extreme checks cost 1, 2 and 4 credits
  • Configurable data retention
10

Hunter

Best for prospecting teams that also need to find emails

Hunter is an email finder first. Verification is included in its plans, which is convenient if your team already prospects with Hunter.

As a standalone verifier it's expensive, and no self-serve plan covers 100,000 verifications a month.

  • Verification costs half a credit
  • Unknown and disposable results aren't charged
  • Yearly billing is about 30% cheaper

Which email verification tool to choose

  • You work in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor: pick BounceHound, because its MCP server lets your assistant verify and clean lists for you.
  • You verify a list now and then: pick BounceHound or Bouncer, because small, non-expiring packs mean nothing goes to waste.
  • You verify hundreds of thousands a month: pick MillionVerifier or BounceHound, because they have the lowest prices at volume.
  • You're building signup or checkout checks: pick BounceHound or Kickbox, because both have clean real-time APIs with clear statuses.
  • Your data must stay in the EU: pick Bouncer, because it's EU-based and EU-hosted.
  • You want lots of extras in one tool: pick ZeroBounce or Clearout, because they bundle scoring, finders and deliverability tools.
  • You need native ESP and CRM syncing: pick NeverBounce, because it has one of the widest integration lists.

Run your own accuracy test

Most tools give you free credits, so you can compare them on your own data in an afternoon:

  1. 1Pull 1,000 to 2,000 addresses from a recent list, including some you know bounced and some you know are good.
  2. 2Run the same file through two or three tools using their free credits.
  3. 3Compare how many addresses each one marks valid, invalid, catch-all and unknown, and check the known bounces.
  4. 4Send a small campaign to each tool's “valid” set and compare the hard-bounce rates.

Look past the headline accuracy numbers. A tool that marks more addresses as unknown or catch-all looks safer but leaves you with fewer addresses you can confidently send to.

FAQ

What is the cheapest email verification tool?

For 10,000 checks, BounceHound is the cheapest tool in this comparison at $29. At 100,000 checks, MillionVerifier ($149) and BounceHound ($169, with bonus credits) are the two lowest.

Which email verifier works with AI assistants?

BounceHound has a built-in remote MCP server that works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and n8n, so your assistant can verify and clean lists on its own. Hunter also lists MCP support for its prospecting tools.

Should I pay for catch-all and unknown results?

Unknown results should be free, and most tools here refund them. Catch-all handling varies: some tools charge for it, some don't, and a few try to resolve catch-all addresses with deeper checks. Check how a vendor bills these before buying a large pack.

Do email verification credits expire?

It depends on the vendor. BounceHound, MillionVerifier, Emailable, Bouncer, Clearout and Verifalia credits don't expire. NeverBounce credits expire after 12 months, and subscriptions like Hunter's reset each month.
